Hacktoberfest 2022: Contribute to the Open-Source Community

Hello awesome people of the Open Source universe!

Hacktoberfest is finally here and we are really excited to participate in it once again. As you must know already, we love using and contributing to open source at Zyte.

You are all more than welcome to contribute to our open source projects and win Zyte swag!

What is Hacktoberfest?

Started by Digital Ocean, Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration that brings the open source software community together.

hacktoberfest

The primary motive is to give back and contribute to open source projects; not necessarily just code contribution.

The cherry on the cake is, Digital Ocean plants a tree on your name or gives away cool swag to some of the participants.

Who can participate?

Literally ANYONE!

Hacktoberfest is all about making contributions to open-source projects. It can be anything, not just code.

You can participate as:

  • Software development
  • Translators
  • Authors
  • Artists
  • Technical writes

Learn more about non-code contributions here.

Event Signup

Head over to the official website to sign up anytime between 26th September and 31st October.

All you need is a GitHub or GitLab account.

The only requirement is to successfully complete 4 accepted pull requests between 1st October and 31st October.

Open Source Projects supported by Zyte

This is a very special event to us being the lead maintainer of Scrapy - the most popular open-source web crawling framework for Python - which is used by millions of developers worldwide.

All of the following projects are supported by Zyte:

Chance to win Hacktoberfest SWAG

The first 40,000 participants who complete Hacktoberfest can opt for either of these prizes from DigitalOcean: a tree planted in their name or the Hacktoberfest 2022 T-shirt.

Zyte SWAG

But wait, there is more!

Win Zyte SWAG if you’re one of the first 20 participants to get a pull request accepted on the Zyte supported open source projects.

You only need to fill this form after one of your pull requests is accepted.
